A quick trip into the local speed shop recently yielded an affordable compromise. For about the cost of one Recaro, I could purchase two seats and custom mounting brackets. Being Cobeau's entry-level seat, they offer few frills, but they do offer excellent lateral support and a map pocket on the seat's back side. They are available in vinyl, cloth, or leather. Since I was trying to keep my interior relatively stock, I chose to purchase them in black vinyl. I was very impressed with the quality of vinyl used. It's much thicker than the stock Datsun vinyl and had a nicely textured feel to it.

Although no instructions or guidelines were included, the installation was fairly straightforward. The custom mounting brackets replace the stock seat brackets entirely, and are powdercoated for durability.

One issue that arose, once the seats were installed, was that the quick-release lever interferes with the late-style retractable seat belts. The seat belts are still usable, but are now a bit more difficult to buckle. Otherwise, the seats fit the car great, offer wonderful support, and don't look out of place in a somewhat stock interior.
