From the Editor's Garage

Wintertime brings us snow and rain, but it also gives us the perfect excuse to work on our 510s. For many of us, our 510s are no longer our primary vehicles (especially during the winter season) and what better time to spend a few months upgrading them. In this issue you'll find just one of those multi-weekend projects.

We've had a lot of requests on how to swap 280ZX front brakes. along with a few requests on how to put rear-disk brakes. We figured, why not kill two birds with one stone. In this issue Dean Sherman shows us what he did to swap the entire braking system from the 280ZX. There is a bit of fabrication involved, but nothing a good machine shop can't do for you. Or maybe this is a good excuse to buy a welder!

I've also had a few requests for more information on engine swaps, including some non-Nissan engines. While we can't address all the swaps in detail, the next issue will have an article that covers most of the popular engine swaps. It will include information like ease of installation, costs, maintenance, and pros and cons. But don't worry, we'll be covering several detailed engines swaps in the future. (Like the KA24 and possibly the SR20DE(T) motors from Nissan.) We'll also have the last installment of the VG30DE engine swap in the near future.

Don't forget to check out the calendar of events because there are plenty of events to choose from. And they're not all on the West coast! I've also included a registration form for this year's Mt. Shasta All-Datsun-Meet. I encourage all those who haven't been to try and make it this year! It brings together a great group of folks that have one thing in common: Datsuns! We will once again have a booth set up so feel free to come by and say Hi.

Yeah, I'm still a bit behind on the newsletters, but hopefully soon I'll get the issues to match the seasons... (It's still winter in a lot of places, right?) Look for the Spring issue to come out around a late May timeframe. Maybe earlier. That's about it for this time. Drive safely and enjoy the ride.
